The route Departure from El Calafate along Route 15, known as the Route of the Estancias, to the Glaciar Sur pier that is located in the South Branch of Lake Argentino, on the shores of Estancia Nibepo Aike. Navigation to the bottom of the South Arm of Lake Argentino, every time we see more inside the Andes Mountain Range. Upon disembarking, the walk begins towards Lake Frías, which can only be accessed on foot. The trail goes into a lenga forest. After a slight ascent, you reach the natural viewpoint of Lago Frías, all these lands were covered by the homonymous glacier thousands of years ago. From there, descend to the shore of the lake, to board the Fitzcarraldo boat, and navigate 5 km through crystal clear waters of surprising emerald color. From the other shore, a 4.5-mile trek begins through the Frías River valley. As one approaches the last moraine, the glaciers begin to come closer and closer. A pristine area of ​​Los Glaciares National Park. A valley of changing environments that ends in an amphitheater, made up of the Grande, Cubo and Dickson glaciers. The glaciers release their ice towards the Upper Frías Lagoon (Grande and Cubo) and the Dickson Arm (Dickson Glacier) but originally they were all part of a large glacier: the Frías. A unique, wide and exclusive landscape. There is free time to admire the landscape and have lunch, before retracing the route and returning to El Calafate.

Regular departures: Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. With more than 4 people a new date opens.
Groups: 15 people.
Reference Hours:
* 8:00 a.m.: Pick up tour begins at the hotels in El Calafate.
* 9:30 a.m.: meeting at the Pioneros pier (Estancia Nibepo Aike)
* 10:00 a.m.: start of navigation.
* 6:00 p.m.: return to Nibepo Aike.
* 7:30 p.m.: Arrival in El Calafate.
Duration: from El Calafate 10 or 11 hours. From Nibepo Aike it is 7:30 a.m. 3 hours of transfer / 2 hours of navigation /
5 hours of walking, 14 km.
Difficulty: moderate. +70/-70 m difference in level. There is no road for support vehicles.
Boat: Fonzo or Hauthal on Lake Argentino and Fitzcarraldo on Lake Frías.
Picnic: 2 ham, cheese, lettuce and tomato sandwiches, cereal bar, nuts, alfajor, candies, water, juice
orange and 2 fruits. Hot drinks available halfway.
If the weather allows it, the time of the picnic is in front of the glaciers, but in case of rain or strong winds
returns to the forest after seeing the glaciers and has lunch in a dome that is located near Lake Frías.
Departures on December 25 and January 1: the departure from El Calafate is delayed by 1 hour, so you also arrive one hour
later.
