The Ojo del Albino glacier is located in the Sierra Alvear, about 20 km northeast of Ushuaia and is one of the most picturesque Fuegian glaciers, due to its lagoon full of icebergs and its frontal moraine. Its extension is 86 ha and it contributes runoff to the Esmeralda lagoon, although there is a paleochannel that indicates that a few decades ago the main drainage was towards the Beban valley, parallel to that of the Esmeralda lagoon.

This Ojo del Albino Glacier Trekking excursion includes the Laguna Esmeralda trek, adding the ascent along the main tributary of the lagoon, which has its source in the Ojo del Albino Glacier.
The glacier surprises us with a spectacle of ice and mountains. We put on our crampons and begin the exploration of the glacier (hike on the ice subject to climatic conditions, the terrain and the group). We arrive at the viewpoint of the valley where we have lunch enjoying incomparable views from 900 meters above sea level. We continue the journey, with stops at panoramic points of stunning beauty. Finally we return to the Nunatak refuge and from there to the Hotel in Ushuaia.
Note: The walk with crampons is subject to the conditions of the Glacier at the top.
